Zone Hardy in zones 3 - 12

For terrestrial gardens, plant Blue Flag Iris in moist, loamy soil in full sun to part shade (6+ hours of sunlight). Dig holes twice as large as iris rhizomes, loosen soil and add compost before placing rhizome in soil with pointed ends up and roots down. Place rhizomes 1/2 inch beneath the surface of the soil. Great for naturalizing in moist, wetlands as well as bog areas of the pond. When placing Blue Flag Iris in the pond, use a wide container with holes, a planting basket or fabric planter using loam soil. Plant rhizomes with 1/2 inch of soil above the rhizome and place in the pond with 3 inches of water above the rhizomes, in full sun. Fertilize once a month with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates from June through August.

Cut foliage back to about one inch above the rhizome after the first frost in the fall.

Divide your Blue Flag Iris every couple of years.

PondMegastore Tip It is important to wear gloves when planting or dividing Blue Flag Iris rhizomes as they are poisonous.
